When I try to zip a folder, I do the normal right click on the folder, and choose
Send To, but the only options its giving me , when I click on send to -is Fax recipient or DVD RW Drive(D:) there is no compressed zip folder or anything else listed. This is the 1st time I have tried zipping folders in wind 7, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks Sandie

You could also install 7-Zip and use it to handle all your compress/uncompress tasks. It's what I use.

Sandie,

I hope 7-Zip will work for you. It is a great program. :)

Did you try both options in my post above though?

Honestly, I got lost in the 2nd part lol, I can tell you anything about Photoshop, or animation shop, but when it comes to the tech things, not so good. I would prefer if it worked your way rather than having to use the 7zip(havent tried that yet) either. Sandie

WinRAR or WinZip is a 3rd option.

I don't know how WinZip works, but in WinRAR open the directory of your files, highlight/select each one you want to compress and Right click, click Add to Archive.

Set Archive Format as ZIP, and click OK.

You will need to add that shell extension during setup or otherwise you will have to do it from the program WinRAR itself.

Okay right now what I have on my desktop is something that says Default zip, now when I right click on it, to choose Merge" a box opens and asks if I really want to do this, because it couldbe harmful. So do it anyway? Just want to be sure.

Yep, it's just asking for your verification to merge it from step 4 in that tutorial. :)

Ok got it, :)and now I see the compressed zip folder when I click on send to. Thanks so much. Any particular reason why that was missing in the 1st place?

Maybe your shell or registry was messed up, and WinRAR adding a Shell extension fixed it, I have no knowledge, so no idea to be honest.

That's great news Sandie. You're most welcome.

My guess is that if you installed any other type of ZIP program, it may have replaced the built-in ZIP feature of Windows 7 as the default instead.
