problems installing 2 new wd 3tb green drives

windows 7 home premium 64 bit os.

windows installed the drivers correctly

and the drive was in manage disk to initialize, so I did. The 1st one I selected as GTP because that's what was recommended for drive over 2 TB. The problem is it shows the disk with a 764,308MB and won't let me increase it. Everything I've read says 3TB drives should be recognized right off in 7 64 bit.

Since I had 2 I tried the 2nd one initializing as a MBR and I got the same results.

Not finding anything that points me to how to eliminate the problem

Did not format them because of the incorrect capacity issue.

???????????????

You seem to have a motherboard named after your email address.

I suggest you go to your motherboard maker's web site and investigate an updated BIOS that is known to support drives above 2 TB. I know that Gigabyte, for one, requires an updated BIOS to support those extra large drives.

If you decide to change the BIOS, be careful. If it goes bad, you may have to replace the motherboard.

Don't change the BIOS unless you can independently confirm that your existing BIOS is the cause of your problem. That info might be at the motherboard manufacturer's website.

I should add that I do not plan to use either of them as a boot drive, I'm aware of UEFI requirement - although I sure my mother board support that.
