Have you tried running the setup as administrator, or running it in compatibility mode (Windows Vista SP1/SP2 will do).
I'll try installing it now, but I'm on RTM so it may be a tad different in results.

I've just tried this myself. The first time, I got the error as you described. However, by right clicking on the installation file and selecting Run as administrator , the program installed without further hitches.

I just grabbed the installer from the page linked by Gundan, and installed it and ran it - then closed it and ran it again.
never once received an error message.
I am on the RTM - perhaps it has issues with build 7100?

If your 'user' account does not have administrative privileges, then that is the problem right there.
My 'user' account still has administrative privileges - so when I get a UAC prompt I only have to click OK to give consent for elevated privileges. If I had a standard user account, though, I'd be asked for a user name and PW for administrative privileges.
My guess sis that you're using a limited account as was prevalent in Networks and NT back in the day. The whole purpose of UAC is to avoid having to do that.

ya, that sounds like its it. i had figured that running it as admin would have elevated my privileges, but i guess thats not too big of a problem. probably sort of a benefit.
