First, I looked through the forum history and couldn't find my solution. If this has all ready been covered I apologize.

I'm trying to set up raid 0 on a fresh install. When I go to install the drivers on setup I get the following error:

"To continue installation, use the Load Driver option to install 32-bit and signed 64-bit drivers. Installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unusable windows installation"

I am using the ICH10R chipset, I have enabled RAID in the bios, and then created the raid 0 array in the RAID bios.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, and I have used the 64 bit raid drivers from the install CD, from my mobo's website, and from the intel website (assuming I should be using Intel Matrix Storage Manager).

The array is detected by windows; however, It won't let me install it without the third party drivers.

When I download the drivers, I unzip the files and burn them to a cd

I've never set up a raid before, are these the right drivers? what am I doing wrong?

if screen shots would help ask and ill take some

Pepsi dude

the drivers are probably correct. win 7 just doesn't want to install them because they are digitally un-signed. There is a tutorial here on sevenforums on how to work around that but so far I haven' been able to find it. You might want to search on forcing driver install or unsigned drivers while I look. I am also going to enlist our tutorial guru if he is online

Hope this helps and as soon as I find a link I will be back

EDIT: according to our guru we dont have one. sorry thought we did. you can probably google it. Unsigned drivers are an unknown. To bad we couldn't find another

Sorry

Ken

I figured out the problem.

I was assuming since windows wouldn't install on my RAID array that I needed to install the raid drivers. This assumption was wrong.

I kept getting the error "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition" when trying to install on it.

Solution: You HAVE to set your RAID array as the FIRST boot device. Not your CD-Rom. Hair pulling problem, simple solution.

Still can't get Win7 64 bit to recognize RAID drivers.

Folks,
I have read several posts about those of us doing a clean install of win 7 64 onto brand new 1 terabyte drives in RAID 0. I have downloaded the latest Intel drivers, I have got by RAID set up correctly in my BIOS, etc. When I go to drivers during the install, the error message reads that the drivers are unsigned. Now, I read that somewhere there is a workaround for that. Please, someone help me step by step to make a new disk, etc so I can get this done. I have win7 RC 32 bit on a 500 gig hard drive, so I can do other things. I have read forum threads about making a disk, etc, but it makes no sense to me the way it is written. I would rather use the BIOS for a RAID instead of Drive expert, etc using up precious CPU cycles. Thanks for the help. I just need some step by step help. I am not a noob, but the details of workarounds escapes me. Thanks, again!!!!

With windows 7 you shouldn't need to install the raid drivers.

Step 1: Go to your bios, enable raid.
Step 2: Restart, Go to your raid bios (CTRL+I for ICH10 chipsets I believe, look in your book). Your raid bios will flash after your initial post before it tries to boot from CD.
Step 3: Set up a RAID 0 array. When setting this up I left everything default. (This is done through your RAID bios)
Step 4: Go back into your regular bios, set the RAID array you just created as your FIRST boot device
Step 5: Restart, install Windows 7. No need to select the "Install Drivers" option.

Pepsidude185 is right, follow dude's direction

Also guys, for me I needed to remove all USB devices so my array would show up in the BIOS to choose as 1st boot device. Until I removed everything, i.e., all USB sticks and whatnots, the BIOS wouldn't even show me the ARRAY to choose as 1st boot.

Did we really think the drivers were "unsigned" b/c of some stupid Win error? I kept thinking, really?!! C'mon, I'm sure your MOBO manufacturer is using the correct driver.

Well, that didn't exactly work but THIS DID!!!

ok, check everything pepsidude said to, then for me I DID need to remove the USB stick but I ran into the same stupid "unsigned" error. I'm using the Win7-64bit image. I have a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 mobo so I went to the Gigabyte forums.

This is where it gets good...so the forums said to use the 32-bit RAID driver when you install Win7-64bit. THAT WORKED!! Array recognized, installed Win-7 64bit. All is great. OS boots, array is functioning properly and it's definitely Win7 64 bit.

go figure...hope this helps someone else b/c I've been banging my head against a wall for 3hrs now.

Dude, this problem was more than 3 years ago, the problem is probably solved by now.[/QUOTE]

Typical narrow minded view, "probably", well guess what, the issue still occurs on new Gigabyte motherboards.

I'm not sure if you care about the Internet since it's been around much longer than 3 yrs, but on the Internet posts stay around for a long time so other folks can benefit from the productive comments of the group. Your comment is completely unproductive which is hopefully not but "probably" indicative of your propagation ability.

I wasn't trying to solve the current post's issue. I was trying to add an important detail to the post to try and help someone else now or in the future. You should try it sometime but start with yourself. You need help.

Solved

Thank you, skunk182! I was going to wait 3 more years to reply to this (lol), but instead I decided to thank you now. I'm on a Biostar motherboard but your solution worked for me. The 64-bit driver gave me the unsigned error, but the 32-bit driver worked fine and I was still able to install Windows 7 as 64-bit! Hope this solution helps others in the future.

Please help me with this same problem.

The 32 bit version of the SATA driver did not work for me. (I am not installing a RAID set up, just regular SATA drive in a Dell Latitude E6320 laptop). I am also trying to do a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on a new hard drive and do not have the origial Dell Windows CD.

I have now tried both 32 bit and 64 bit SATA drivers (pre-OS versions) downloaded directly from the Dell website and I am still getting the same error:

"To continue installation, use the Load Driver option to install 32-bit and signed 64-bit drivers. Installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unusable windows installation"

I am able to see the driver exe file and extract in with the wizard when booting up and I can then see the ini files but when I try run them I get the same error above. URGENT. Please help!!!!
