Solved Problems since last Windows Updates

I downloaded 3 new Windows Updates a few days ago and have been experiencing some situations. The 3 I downloaded were: KB2552343; KB2547666; and KC2545698. I have found I should not have downloaded the 7666 one, but did so before learning about it. It basically zapped the SEARCH feature on my Windows7 desktop pc. I've researched at lot on this and found that it did what it was supposed to do and the indexing/search will rebuild itself over time -- GRRRRR. For awhile whatever I looked for it would tell me nothing found. It's improving.

The problem I'm having now is I cannot view UTube. That is a new situatoin and I do not know if it was also caused by those stupid updates. Upon until downloading those, I could view U tube with no problem. Now, all I get is a black screen no matter which one I watch. I can't even see my son's utube presentation. Is there a way that I can get the viewing capability back?

I have checked my java and adobe flash versions and I do have the latest and greatest installed.

I would appreciate any help on this matter as I would like to be able to view utube again.

What you might want to try is uninstalling all three of the updates. Then reinstall the 2343, reboot computer, make sure things are still working properly. If yes, reinstall 5698, same procedure. this tutorial shows how to uninstlal Windows Updates.

Or, you could try restoring your computer to a date/time prior to installing those updates. Then try reinstalling both updates as above.

Check to see if uninstalling/reinstalling those updates also solves the Youtube problem. If it doesn't you might want to uninstall Adobe flash using their official uninstaller, especially if you tried to update Flash over an existing version.

Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

Once uninstalled, reinstall the latest version. (Uncheck the Google toolbar, or any other bloatware being offered, if you don't want it.)

Adobe - Install a different version of Adobe Flash Player

If this doesn't solve the YouTube problem, right click on one of those
black screens, click on settings and make sure "enable hardware accelleration" is check marked.

unable to see utube

Gues what -- about 11 p.m. last evening, a JAVA update box popped up on my computer -- seems an odd time for that as I just got an updatenot too long ago. Seems like they come down the pike about once evrey month or so. Anyway,I installed it and just happened to go check the utube link I 'd been trying to view. Lo and behold -- what did I see, but beautiful July 4 Fireworks at Disneyland (LOLOL). Evidently my theory was right about it being an Adobe Flash or Java situation. I have a sneaky feeling that those silly WU ruined things and Java got wind and came through for the world. Perhaps it affected enough users they felt an update was warranted out of sinc. What do I know though -- zilch!!! Thanks for the information however, because I will keep it in my archives.

I posted a thread in relation to Windows update breaking certain things. How do you monitor what it breaks. I administer a domain here at our bank and would like to know what Updates are breaking what software. Right now we just wait until the software is used, the user then finds it doesn't work, and then reports back to us. From there we have to troubleshoot what update caused the problem and then uninstall it. Is there a resource out there that allows you to see what is being broken by the current Windows Updates?

Hi Mallard -- it may be lightly used; however, I've used it numerous times and have had nothing but good positive informatoin from whoever replies to my posts. I would say that is worth something. I'll continue using as I think they know what they're talking about here.
