problems w/fullscreen Youtube on Google Chrome?

I like to watch Big Brother Australia on Youtube, and these videos run well over an hour a piece.

In fullscreen mode, about every 20 minutes or so, the HDD activity light on my laptop will get excited, and I'll be automatically exited out of fullscreen mode. The audio continues to play normal, but there is no video to be seen--just a black rectangular box. I've noticed that after minimizing the browser, I'm back to the fullscreen video. What the...?

I've noticed on Android that Youtube likes to push ads in the middle of videos, could these ads possibly be interfering with the Adblock extension I have installed for Google Chrome on Windows?

You are probably in the best position to test this by uninstalling Adblock for a test.

good idea, I'll try it and see if I can disable it for Youtube only

I have seen people using Process Monitor, or Process Explorer to track down what is stealing focus. The exact configuration I cannot say, but Monitor has the ability to log. If your experiment is not successful, you might also try a clean start to see if the issue goes away.

Anything from antivirus to router software can, even momentarily, steal focus. There are ways to prevent programs from stealing focus, but that would be a last resort I believe.

I actually just went ahead and reinstalled my system, things seem to be back to normal--except my mouse pointer doesn't disappear when in fullscreen. I may be lacking a Windows Update for this.

It might have been a program causing the issue, but I can't imagine what that might have been. It could have been an accidentally installed Windows Update for all I know.

Most people want the pointer to NOT disappear. But their issue would also probably find your method to make it disappear.

Open mouse properties> Start> In search box type (or copy and paste)

change how the mouse pointer looks

Enter

When the mouse properties open

Pointers tab> Check Enable pointer shadow

Pointer options tab> Visibility> Check Display pointer trails

Apply and OK your way out

See if that worked. A Guy
