Hey guys so I have windows 7 Ultimate, and I have a hp pavillion dv6815nr
The screen on my laptop is so beautiful and clear, I have it on 1280x800 and everything works great.

I just bought a projector to watch movies and stuff on my walls, the projector has a very clean and crisp image also.

My problem is that for some reason when I plug my projector in my laptop goes to a smaller res (800x600) and only lets me go up to 1024x768 or whatever it is, and the screen isn't as clear, its almost like when i plug my projector in and set it as the projector or both screens it doesn't use the drivers(windows lag when you move them too, which only happens to me when I don't have my drivers installed)

I really just want it to show the same as it is without my projector(1280x800 and really clear and crisp)

I have no clue why its doing this.

On my wall it looks pretty blurry too, hard to read text ext, it looks great with a dvd player and stuff(I think its hd, not sure though) but I think the blurry-ness is a mix of the no drivers issue and the cord I have is a 4 prong s video whereas my laptop has 7 prongs..

If both screens (the laptop and the projector) are displaying the same image - ie the desktop, then it's most likely in 'cloned mode/duplicate mode'

right-click desktop , select personalize > display > change display settings > and under the multiple displays option, change it to "extend these Displays"

This will allow you to independently configure each screen and set the native resolution for each device .

Alternatively, you could press the WIN+P keys and select 'projector only' which will output on the projector screen only.
