problems with burning and playback on windows 7

I've been having problems with copying my CD's on to my laptop using both itunes and Windows Media Centre.
When i try to upload my CD's to itunes, some of them playback distorted and crackly, it even does this when i only try to play the CD back through my laptop without trying to upload it.
I spoke to someone from toshiba and was told that it was DRM.

However, this seems absolutely stupid as they are all original purchases that i am trying to upload to sync to my ipod, it seems ridiculous that i shouldn't be allowed to do this?

Is there something i'm doing wrong, does anyone have any tips or know any way I can avoid this?

Try updating both the firmware and drivers for your CD drive.

In addition, you may also want to update your sound card drivers.

It is a brand new laptop. I was told it was a DRM problem, digital rights management, that is purpose-built within windows 7 to do this job.

The Various CD's that won't copy correctly are mostly a few CD's by the same artists, so maybe it's to do with DRM and certain recording companies.

was just wondering if anyone knew of any ways of how to get round DRM.

You can try using a recording program such as Audacity to record the audio stream.
