I have a Vaio desktop with windows seven ultimate x32. I am having problems connecting my desktop to my WiFi. It is a Net gear wireless router based off Charter communications.

My computer gives me no options to connect to my wireless network unlike my laptop. I go through the control panel - Network and Internet - Network and Sharing. Then i click on the "Set up a new connection or Network" and it says Chose a connection option "Connect to the Internet" is on top and i click on it. It asks how i want to connect and has a little box in the bottom right corner of the menu and says " Show connection options that this computer is not set up to use" and i click it and it still only gives me two options to connect to. The options are "Broadband (PPPoE)" and "Dial-up", there is no option for Wireless.

Does anyone know to enable the wireless option.

Does you Desktop have a wireless device? Doesn't sound like it?

Post a screen capture of a full screen Device Manager with Network Adapters expanded.

Some Wireless cards stop working when a cable is plugged in, so try removing the cable and see if wireless will show up.

Then open Network and Sharing and click on change adapter settings, see if you see the wireless connection there.

report back.

Edit: also make sure you have a Wifi device as Ztruker mentioned.

Thanks for the attempt to help Ztruker but i found the problem. There is a little piece that you plug into the USB port(like a portable mouse plug in) and i pulled it out thinking it was for a portable mouse. Turns out its a TP-LINK wireless adapter that lets me connect to my wireless so i am going to mark this as solved for all of those who have this same problem.
