Problems with non WDDM drivers

Hi guys,
Maybe a stupid question, but what about games made for directX9c?
Should I install DX9c? or will it mess DX11?
I'm trying to load rFactor, without installing DX9c, so the setup doesn't finish and says that it can't find d3dx9_30.dll.
I've read that I have to paste it onto windows\system32 but no way, doesn't run.

Using Pre-release Windows Update drivers

USING ANYTHING OTHER THAN PRE-RELEASE NVIDIA DRIVERS THAT ARE NOT OFFICIAL FROM NVIDIA/WINDOWS UPDATE WILL BREAK GAMES (Example: Doom 3, Most OpenGL games break on new releases not found on windows update)

Yes, you'll need to install the latest DirectX updates - get this one:

Alternatively, the last build had some folks who needed this one instead:

DOOM 3 - Use the new beta 181.22 Nvidia Drivers , fixes the flickering and much newer than the poor win 7 win update drivers

Hi Neil, Can I ask you what's the safer and better way to update graphic drivers? I tried to uninstall WDDM, reboot, but automatically Seven download and install drivers that don't work correctly.
So i launched Seven in safe mode, uninstalled again, rebbot, and then I forced the installation of the new 181.22. But now, Seven can't find my graphic card anymore. It do runs, but settings are only "default".
So do I need as in XP to uninstall, clean, boot in safe mode, clean with driver cleaner, then reboot and cancel automatic install in order to install my drivers?
For info, I run Gainward 7600GT GoldenSample on an Epox 8RDA3+.

Just to UPDATE doom 3 is flickering again it was working through two launches then it didn't. It seems the STEAM version is working fine though

Jean this is what i do

Uninstall graphics drivers via add/remove , then use DRIVER SWEEPER ( removing nvidia display drivers ). Open command prompt the little dos window and type in pnputil -e it will give you a list of drivers. ONLY uninstall the nvidia display driver so if its under oem3 type pnputil -d oem3.inf. Reboot system , it will still install the standard windows update driver but its safe to install the latest nvidia driver over it

It seems this driver isn't compatible with my hardware. Any infos are unavailable. I'll notify it to Microsoft and then go back to WDDM pre.

Different files, different gaming system, so they cohabit just fine. Installing Direct X 9 does not wipe out DX 10 - it *adds* DX 9.

You have tried a variety of nVidia drivers? Sounds like you may have remnants of the driver interfering with the install.

Use Guru3D - Driver Sweeper like so:

1. Install
2. Reboot into ***SAFE MODE***
3. run - remove all nVidia Forceware drivers (don't remove other nVidia drivers, only Forceware)
4. reboot
5. let Windows install the correct driver
6. reboot (if necessary)
7. install your choice of nVidia drivers *over* the WDDM drivers.
8. reboot.

Give the above a shot and see if it works. If you get the WDDM driver working, then just install the nVidia driver on top of that.

The official "How to use" from Guru3d lists:

• <LI qaOrq="2">Use the official uninstaller(s) of the driver(s) you want to uninstall. <LI qaOrq="2">Reboot your [COLOR=#000080 !important][COLOR=#000080 !important]PC[/COLOR][/COLOR] in Safe Mode. <LI qaOrq="2">Run Driver Sweeper and select what to clean. <LI qaOrq="2">Analyse lists all the entries possible to remove, cleaning removes the entries selected.
• More drivers can be selected for the same cleaning process.

Not much difference, but they recommend you use the uninstaller before the reboot. My point is:

I did like said, uninstall, clean in safe mode, let Seven install driver and install the 181.22, but all settings are "default" and my 7600 isn"t recognized. More, now I have "cracking sound" when playing music or movie. The audiodg.exe was eating almost 100% of CPU usage. Seems there is a conflict between my sound driver and video driver. The bad is I am back with WDDM1.1 now but the sound is still "cracking", tough the audiodg.exe run smoothly now.
