Problems with random 'Server Not Found' errors & event viewer warnings

So while I'm browsing the internet, every so often I get a random Server Not Found message. It happens less than a second after I click the link so it's like an instant timeout. And once in a while, warnings show up in my event viewer like this:

And today my internet went out all together and I got an error saying "The DNS
server isn't responding."

This has been happening for months and I didn't think much of it but now it's starting to annoy me.

I'm using a 2wire 2701HG-B gateway/modem/router thing. It's connected to my computer with a yellow ethernet cord and it's also used to connect to a laptop in another room wirelessly. It happens both on the laptop and my desktop.

Have you attempted to reset the router or have you tried using a different DNS server. You can change the DNS server by going into your routers control panel.

Yeah, I tried changing them to 208.67.222.220/208.67.220.222. The problem existed before and after.

You should try resetting winsock. It's about the only fix I can find for your particular router when it's having problems. You can also try resetting the router or updating the firmware on the router.

1. Click start, type cmd in the Start Search box, right-click cmd.exe, click Run as administrator, and then press Continue.

2. Type netsh winsock reset at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.

Note If the command is typed incorrectly, you will receive an error message. Type the command again. When the command is completed successfully, a confirmation appears, followed by a new command prompt. Then, go to step 3.

3. Type exit, and then press ENTER. You should be prompted to reboot, if not you should reboot and test.

I tried that and it worked for that day but I'm getting timeouts again today.
