Problems with Windows Photo Viewer

When i click a picture to view it open OK, but after i close it and click another one (or the same) it won't open. I checked task manager and there is dllhost.exe, if i close dllhost or wait some time it will close automatically and then i can see the picture, so basically is a "delay" which is starting to annoy me.

How do you open a file in Windows Photo Viewer? Do you right click on the file and choose Open With or is Photo Viewer your default viewer? Do you hit Exit to close each file?

To close it i click the X. I have a folder with pictures and thumbnails enable so i can pick some of them to watch. Some one told me to do sfc /scannow but that didn't helpe.

None that i recall. I was thinking to reinstall Windows 7 and then restore programs, documents, etc.. with windows backup, but then i thought it could also restore the problem.

You could also just do a system repair instead of reinstall.

My disc is a Windows Upgrade disc that Acer was offering when buying a laptop with Vista so i can only upgrade from another operating system (at least that's the message that pop up when i try to do the in place upgrade) and a clean install. It seems there is not fix for the dllhost problem. I just ended making the Thumbnails bigger so i can preview the pictures without actually opening them.

I had a similar problem after updating the drivers for my laptop. I did a clean boot (How to Troubleshoot a Problem by Performing a Clean Startup in Windows 7 or Vista) and found photo viewer to be working again normally. After that I followed the re-enable guide lines outlined in the article.

I used Windows Easy Transfer to save settings, data and programs, then reinstalled Windows and restored 98% of the data with Windows Easy Transfer. Problem gone!
