Just wanted to know what processor would work well in a GA-G41M-ES2L REV1.0 MOBO. Doesn't have to be the best nor the worst. No gaming. Gonna load WIN7 32BIT OS. Thanks. B-72

for the filter on the left, click show more for cpu socket type and select only LGA775.
that is what you must get to fit and keep that old motherboard running.
newegg currently shows only 8 available if you want to buy one.
being that is an old and obsolete socket type, you might be able to scrounge recycling centers or ebay for old computers that were LGA775 socket type and yank the cpu and get it for almost free versus buying a new one.

for that socket type, the "Pentium D" is the worst cpu model and i would avoid it.
The "core 2 duo" and "core 2 quad" is the best and that is what i would look for, having the highest frequency. the quad core being the best.

You want a Core 2 Quad or a Core 2 Extreme if the board will support it, you can find one on Ebay, and Mike was even able to snag a new one for his Acer.

Posting a link to your board would be nice, so we don`t always have to look it up :)

Is this is ?

GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-G41M-ES2L (rev. 1.0)

Example : Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme QX6850 3 0 GHz Quad Core CPU LGA775 Unlocked Processor | eBay

But the best 775 socket cpu in my opinion is the QX9650, but your board has to support it.

Free Shipping Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 LGA 775 SLAN3 Slawn CPU Processor | eBay

I would jump on this deal, now ;)

Core 2 Extreme is a brand name for the best-performing desktop Core 2 microprocessors. These processors were always faster than other Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad CPUs released at the same time. Not only did Extreme processors have higher core frequency, they also had unlocked clocked multiplier which allowed their owners to increase their frequency above nominal (overclock them). A few Extreme processors had other features that increased their performance even further: higher bus frequency, twice as many cores, and/or large level 2 cache. Being faster than any other Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad on the market, these CPUs were almost twice more expansive than the most expensive Core 2 Duo / Quad microprocessor. The Core 2 Extreme processors were packaged in 775-land package and worked in the same motherboards as Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad CPUs.

And PLEASE, install 64 bit, not 32 bit, and max out the memory, 8 GB :)
