Processor Firmware?

Is there such a thing as a firmware update for a processor?

I want to say yes, but no at the same time. Wouldn't it be hard because it'd have to use the processor in order to figure out what to do with the firmware!

:S perhaps I'm thinking too deeply into it though.

Yes. There is such a thing as a CPU firmware update/upgrade. I am not aware of any that apply to Intel/AMD desktop processors.

Interesting, I thought I heard somewhere that Core2Duo and above had upgradable firmware, but I must have been mistaken, maybe.

I know there is the Intel INF update utility. I'm not sure if that's what your asking about though.

This is probably what you are thinking about. I remember there were some early Core 2's that were in need of this and it came in the form of bios updates for motherboards. Hope it helps
