processor goes to 100%

every now and then my processor goes to 100% while i'm playing music or on a website that uses flash. it might be my integrated graphics card but i'm not sure. could anyone help me with this?

I suggest you track that with the Task Manager > Processes. Set it such that it shows the processes with the highest CPU utilization on top and also click on " Show processes from all users". With the information at hand, it is impossible to tell. Could be anything.

i think its windows media player. for some reason its taking up 32% of my processor and i have some other big programs running in the background so thats probably it.


when using linux i've done far more activities than this on the same machine. idk why but i've used windows vista xp and now 7 they all do this with wmp. i'm going to try out winamp and see if it is any better about it

If it is WMP that you suspect, unplug all USB sticks for a test. WMP sometimes tries to sync WMP stuff to USB.

my computer generally performs better when wmp is shut off but i still have random processor lags. i'm guessing at this point that it isn't software related

You are thin on memory, and if you have other "big" app running in the background that could explain it

when my processor lags my memory usage is at round 45% so i don't think thats it
