I am building a new desktop and I got a motherboard from an old computer and I have no idea what kind of socket it accepts so is there a way to find out?

I have no idea what brand the motherboard is.

Search the mobo with a magnifying glass for any wording that might relate to make or brand. There should be a name some where on it. Can you take some pictures and post them, we might know just by looking at the board.

We're certain that it is an Asus board, as evidenced by the image above. What we need now is the model number of that board, and this is often screen printed somewhere on the board, typically around the memory sockets. Try and locate this number as this will provide the information needed (note that you might need to disconnect one or more cables to enable you to see it more clearly.

This is what it came with,

ARK | Intel® Pentium® D Processor 925 (4M Cache, 3.00 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)

and this is the list of Pentium D processors,

List of Intel Pentium D microprocessors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Again not worth the expense of trying to find one for it.

Is this the board you were planning on using for a new build? If so the extra cost of DDR2 also makes it not worthwhile. You would be far better served to save up and buy all current hardware than trying to resurrect/upgrade that one.
