product key finder programs

The big OEM's like Dell, Acer, etc, use a master product code and activate against the SLIC table in the PC's BIOS. The keyfinders will retrieve the product key but that key is useless if you try to use it to install and activate an off the shelf OEM version of windows. The Microsoft activation servers will reject it. As Theog posted, you can't use it to activate on line or via phone. The keyfinder program isn't useless, but that key is.
