Program (2) on taskbar

On my superbar, for google chrome and notepad, it says Google chrome (2) and Notepad (2). How can i get rid of the (2)?

Hello Lloyd,

This usually happens when there was a duplicate one with the same name, so the 2 is added to the second copy since they cannot have the same file name. If you are unable unpin the duplicates directly from the taskbar, then double check in this hidden system folder below where pinned taskbar items are stored to see if you may have duplicates of these. If so, you can just delete them to stop 2 being added.

C:\Users\(User-Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar

That usually means there are two of them you need to get rid of those two and put the other ones on there.

Thank you. I was sure it was a duplicate, but I couldnt find the folder. I would have never guessed it was in an Internet Explorer folder.
