You'll probably have to install drivers for your scanner so that Windows can see it. You'll have to get drivers from Acer, unless Windows Update has drivers for it.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have installed the scanner driver and the scanner works perfectly with it's own basic options. MiraScan provides more options and that is how we operated on XP.
I followed MS7 upgrade instructions and used Windows Easy Transfer to shift data onto Windows 7. I then needed to re-install all programs and drivers and am still working on this.
Any help would be appreciated.
So you've reinstalled Mira Scan and it doesn't work? It may not be fully compatible with Win 7.
A couple of things to try:
1. Installing Mira Scan in XP mode. That is, right clicking on the installer file and choosing "Properties". Go to the compatibility tab and select "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and choose XP Service Pack 3. Also check "Run as Administrator". It may install properly and work right if you do that.
2. Go to the Mira Scan website and see if they have a patch or update to the program that allows you to run it with Win 7.
Hi Mellon Head,
Thanks for your interest and your suggestions. I tried all three of your suggestions but with no result.
It seems to me that both Mira Scan and the scanner are each operating perfectly. The issue is that Mira Scan can't find/communicate with the scanner and therefore we can't operate the scanner as we used to. There appears to be no straight forward method of opening this communication path. I have a similar problem with MS Money. I'll keep trying, might finally need to call an expert. (we have a company here called "Need a Nerd") Thanks again.
