program downloads

I download programs from the net and save them to a file folder (downloaded programs) in my documents folder on (C. To uninstall these programs I use the usual rout via uninstall programs form the control program or I use Revo uninstall. Once I uninstall the program from there, it is still in the file folder where I originally saved it. Does that mean it is still on my hard drive or is it just the installer to install the program.

That's just the downloaded installer; you can delete them if you want.

It's just the installer (exe, zip, rar, msi etc.). Uninstalling a program does just that, uninstalls the program. Some uninstallations ask if you want to delete the programs settings, too, but even this option leaves the installer where you saved it.

I save all my downloads in a folder on a 2.5" external disk. Then I do not have to download them again if I want to install them on one of my other systems or one of the workcomputers at the computer club. That has proven to be very practical and does not bloat my system disks.

Great idea....I do that with a thumb drive.
