Program Folder in W7 X64

Still very "Green" to W7 X64 OS, but been using XP for 7 years, noticed that there are 2 Program Folder in the C:\ Directory.
Usually I make sure the application that I install, supports X64, BUT why the additional Program Folder >>> Program (X86),?

Is it because of the XP mode that I can use in W7 X64?[

In the 64-bit Windows 7:

Program Files = Where 64-bit programs are installed to by default.

Program Files (x86) = Where 32-bit programs are installed to by default.

Another quarter in the swear jar! As in, each itme this question is asked, someone should put a quarter in a jar. SevenForums could have free hosting for a year!

Anyway, yes this is the norm with all Windows x64 OSes, going back about 6 years or so to Windows XP x64. Those are the defaults, so when an app picks one during it's install, leave it be.

I know that,but if for example, Firefox V3.6..6 [ Latest ] supports both, the 32 and 64 bits,when I installed it "should" goes to the Program Folder, instead it ended up in the Program [X86]?

It doesn't really matter where it sends it really. I'm going to look around to check, but I think that is just Mozilla letting you know that the software works fine in 64-bit Windows. Even if it is native 64-bit, as long as it runs, what is the issue?

EDIT: I was right. There is no official build of firefox that is 64-bit. There are a few floating around the web that random people have made, but that it it. When it says it supports 64-bit, it means it should run with no problems in a 64-bit environment. Thus, it goes to Programs (x86).
