I turned on my laptop one day, to basically come across the same issue with numerous programs.

It's not just programs though, files which are related to a program with the problem have also been changed.

As you can see in the image attatched, a lot of programs have had their icons removed.. Thats not even 1/4 of the programs affected.

I'm pretty desperate for a solution to this, seeing as it looks silly as well as it being annoying.

So please, help.

That's normal. If you still need to fix it. go to C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Local and delete the iconcache.db file. Then restart your PC.

It's normal? It's been like it for some time now :/

You are looking inside the Programs and Features menu. When I see this folder in My Computer, I see no icons on half of the items. ;)

It's also the same in th start menu folders and if I pin a program to the taskbar, there is no icon there either.

There's also no icon if I send the program to the desktop to create a shortcut :(

EDIT: The only reason I thought of doing it there was because you can see numerous programs at once there haha.

Sounds like a perfect idea, although I didn't get a Windows 7 installation CD due to a friend installing it for me..
Any other ideas you can think of? ^^
