The window for a program I'm using (Geany IDE) doesn't appear at all. It's not minimized, it's not hidden, it's just not there.

I start the program, it loads and appears in the taskbar but the main window doesn't appear.

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Geany, I've wiped the stored window position back to default, but nothings fixed it.

I have had this problem on another program in the past.

Right click on the icon on the task bar and open the program. Check the settings in there. I don't use the program so I can't give you any more help.

That's not the problem. The problem is that when it's loaded the main window isn't visible. It's not hidden either.

Sounds like your window is off the screen. This can happen if you go from a large resolution to a small resolution screen and the window remembers its location. After you have switched to the small resolution screen the window opens in it's last location which can be beyond the visible pixels on your smaller screen.

To fix this you need to move the window from wherever it is back to the area visible on your screen. DO this by starting the application, hitting Alt-Space (this brings up the Window menu which you will not be able to see), and pressing the M key (M = Move).

You can now move the window back onto your screen by holding down the let arrow key (if it is off to the right, which is likely) up the UP arrow key if it down below your current screen.

Yep you were entirely right!

I changed resolution to 768x1024 to see if a website I was building viewed correctly (hence i had geany).

Did as you suggested and it's back. Thanks!
