I have dvd programs that wll not recognise my built in dvd drive. I connected my external dvd drive and it recognises it BUT it always tells me to insert writable media into it no matter what brand if blank dvd I try using. This is for burning dvd's.
I have an HP notebook with dual intel core processors. Please help. If I have to talk to HP service in India one more time I will go postal on them.
Tks.

Your details are a bit sparse for me to leap out there with quick fix (or suggest the ODD is caput) so . . .

Do you see your ODD in your BIOS? Presumably yes since you get inset media dialog.
Has the ODD functioned normally previously?
What have you tried; what did support suggest?
