programs & features won't populate?

I'm running Win 7 64bit. I'm having my machine looked at this weekend (getting a lot of system errors). In the meantime I need to do some tuning that requires a little tweaking in "programs & features section. My problem is that when I go there (control panel> programs & features) the box pops up but then nothing happens. The box is empty and no matter how long I wait it won't populate. I have no idea if this is tied to the system errors I've been getting. Any ideas?

I would suggest wating, any changes you make may be undone by the company/person working on the system this weekend...such as; resetting system defaults and the like.
