Programs not opening after defrag interrupt

Hi, I was defragging my computer for about 5 hours, then came back and saw it had reset for some reason (probably powercut) now my Firefox or many programs won't load up.

I did read if the defrag doesn't complete, you may have to system restore, but the system restore won't even load...not sure what I can do..!

Any help is good.


Windows 7 / 64bit. Latest updates / software

boot from installation disc and try system restore.
probably your hard drive is screwed.
or download windows 7 recovery disc and try from that. No way to try from hard disc.
want download link or you have installation dics?

I do have my CDs yeah, so insert a CD and restore via that are you saying?

System restore couldn't complete, it said due to virus protection being on... I retried but no success..

So is a reboot from CD the last option?
