I've recently had to replace my harddrive, and I installed windows 7 professional (x86) directly into the harddrive. While running I recieve program not responding errors consistantly for many different programs. IE8 does it the most, while windows explorer crashes from time to time, as well as itunes. I installed age of empiers 3 yesterday and that constatly gets this error as well. Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks,
Brian

First, welcome to Seven Forums, Brian!

Sounds like there's a problem with the hard drive. It may be that the power plug or connector for the HD is not fully seated.

Turn off the system, unplug it and check the HD connections - unplug them and re-plug them.

If that helps, you probably should either re-load the system or run a disc checker to ensure that there aren't any errors on it.

There's a natural human tendency to assume that all problems of the same apparent type ("crashes") are somehow linked. That's not always a good assumption with app crashes.

I'd suggest focusing first on the most frequent and easiest-to-trigger crash. Describe how, what, when, what exact error messages, and so on. Somebody may be able to help once a specific issue is isolated and described in detail.

I know by now I must sound like a broken record but the first thing I look at is your system specs. Which are not filled in, people need to know this in order to give you the best possible solution. Please fill them in your user cp. thanks and welcome to sevenforums.Fabe

Ok. Thanks for the help so far everyone. I have updated my specs as best I can. If there is any other info anyone would like to know let me know and I'll try and dig it up.

And when it comes to the different types of crashes they areexactly the same. For both IE8 and age of empires 3, I get an "app: has stopped working. Checking for solutions. This happens guranteed everytime I try to play aoe, and happens quite often when I run IE8.

I also forgot to mention I occasionally get a blue screen error. I still have yet to be able to read the whole thing cause it doesn't last very long, but it tells me to check my drivers and harddrive, as well as a few other things. The error results in a shutdown and reboot.
I know the harddrive is fine because I just replaced it about a week ago, because my old harddrive was shot.

You could try going to c:\windows\minidump then zip the file and upload it using the paperclip attachment on the above bar. Then someone with more experience with reading and understanding the dump files can chime in and maybe help you.
