I am having a problem with old programs that worked in XP and even Windows 98 not working with Windows 7. I can't get Video Thumbnail Maker to work and I can't get Corel Draw 8 to work either. Although I can use PhotoShop 5 to work I always get an error message when I open a file in the program from windows explorer. Any one know of a fix for these problems or have a thumbnail maker that will work with Windows 7.

This looks like a site where I can purchase new software when I would just like to have my old software work with Windows 7.

Hi Jim212,

As advised by sir richc46, you should visit the Windows 7 Compatibility Center for information on old software designed for Windows 98/ME/2000/NT/XP that you would like to run on Windows 7.

Another option is to download and install Windows Virtual PC/Windows XP Mode.

What is Windows XP Mode?

Windows XP Mode is a new benefit of Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate and provides additional application compatibility. It allows you to install and run many of your productivity applications for Windows XP directly from your Windows 7-based PC. It utilizes virtualization technology, such as Windows Virtual PC, to provide a virtual Windows XP environment for Windows 7.

Well it just so happens I had to go look for a thumbnail maker since I switched web editing software to Kompozer from Frontpage 97. And I did not feel like figuring out whatever capabilty irfanview has built in.

I went with a program called Easy Thumbnails and is working fine under 7. Oh you said video thumbnail maker---hmm-not entirely sure there.
