Progress bar too big ...

Have run into a recent problem were the status window put up by Explorer will be much too large then what is expected for "default". This basically files the display screen the window can only be closed (when the activity is completed, or cancelled)

Example:

From explorer select a large number of files and delete..

Progress windows opens and shows file delete in progress.

When this window opens it appears to default to "max info" and will fill the entire screen. If I can hit the "minimize" button in the lower corner, the window will grow smaller till it finally reaches the "normal" size which is expected.

This is now happening will ALL status dialogs/windows which are being opened, and not just by Explorer. I'm guessing there is a setting somewhere which is forcing this dialogue/status window to max size instead of the original default.

Any ideas ?

Hello Mannie, and welcome to Seven Forums.

This sounds like you may not have your DPI settings set to the default 96 DPI causing everything to be larger than normal. Changing it back to 96 DPI should fix this for you if this is the issue.

Don't believe it's DPI or any other obvious display setting. All the other windows appear fine.

The problem dialogue boxes have their text properly and in the right area. What happens is there a huge amount of blank space between the text and the bottom of the window.

In my example, using the "minimal info button" seems to remove the extra blank space, and resizes the dialogue box to the proper dimensions.

OK .. I've attached a screenshot. What I did was download a file using IE, and you can see the download window shows up, but there is a large amount of extra space extending down to the bottom of the screen.

The window is NOT resizeable, nor do any of the keyboard shortcut works to change with window dimensions.

That is for my multi-monitor display. I have tried it with all my apps disabled with nothing but Win 7 running, and the exact same thing happens.

Can't you lift the windows a little then rezise from the right corner?

No. There are absolutely no controls on the window. Attempt to grab from the edge is not possible. Nor do are there any keyboard shortcut options available.

As I mentioned on the delete window (not the screenshot) there is a minimal information button. That will shrink the window, but is not saved.

Could it be some parameters with your Mozilla Firefox browser?

I did enlarge the screenshot and saw that browser Mozilla Firefox...Might be IE hidding behind...so though.

IE "Tools" parameters perhaps?

Here's a screenshot of TightVNC ... this window should only be enclose the right most button (Listening Mode) and should not attempt to fill the screen.

It is not possible to grab a window edge and drag it smaller.

Did you tried a "Repair Install" or "SFC/Scannow"?

Looks not so many could help by now...
