Protecting COA Stickers

I've seen several threads on various forums about people having trouble activating Windows reinstallations because the COA sticker was worn to the point of being unreadable, especially on laptops. Instead of waiting of waiting until one has a problem, dig out a camera and take a close up picture of the sticker while it is still readable and keep several copies of the file in safe places. That way, you will always have it in case the sticker becomes too worn to read. Putting a piece of heavy, clear packing tape over the sticker will help to prevent wear on the sticker.

Taking a picture is a good idea - I've even done it for the sticker on a Retail box of the OS DVD.

However, (my guess is) most of these worn COA stickers are on laptops and some vendors finally wised up. They started putting the sticker under the battery to prevent wear and tear on the sticker

My guess is your guess is correct.

what I did was ran Belarc advisor and typed my product key in Word and its on a backup so I will not have any problems activating Windows at all

That doesn't always work for OEMs.
