I stupidly didn't fully understand what the Public Folder was and deleted it. I thought that by doing that no one would have access to my personal files. Well, I soon discovered that I shouldn't have done that.

#1. Can I get it back from ?
#2. Now I can't put anything into the Library/Documents Folder and don't understand why.
#3. If I can't retrieve that Public Folder can I somehow re-create another sub folder.

I didn't look in the Recycle Bin. Would it have gone there?

I should have known better since I just got Win 7 but it seemed the smart thing to do at the time.:(

Welcome to the forum.

Use system restore, that is the easiest way, especially since you just made the mistake.

Yes, check the Recycle Bin.

you can try a System Restore

But, it may be necessary to repair install the OS. The Public Folder is a required windows folder.

If the System Restore does not work.....
You might be (in my opinion) better off,, doing a Clean Install ,,,, backing up your data and reload the OS. Start from scratch and then be careful of what you delete.

If it is in the recycle bin, just right click on it and then restore. We do not want to take a chance on losing it again. I am hoping that you do not have to do a repair, but in the event that you do, everything should be working properly, again.

While waiting for a reply I did the System Restore TWICE.

That didn't work because also while waiting I moved MY Documents folder there. Big mistake.

So now I've put the MyDocuments back where it came from and created a sub folder under the original Documents folder and then quit for the night.

Boy, the Recycle Bin is my next project. Sure don't understand what's going on there. Totally different from all previous OS's?

Thanks.
