purevpn and gmail

l was wondering if anyone knew any solutions to the issue of google telling me there is suspicious activity on my account and forcing me to change my passwords every time l use my VPN?

not getting much help from support at this second as l dont think their first language is english and they are having issues understanding what lm trying to say.. but in a nutshell l have 4 accounts l connect to (two of which are shared with work and or family members) so changing passwords constantly every time my IP changes is problematic and frustrating.

suffice to say, lm looking for a way to still be able to login to my emails through my VPN somehow without having to constantly change passwords even if my IP changes every time l reboot. would prefer to use x-notifier (firefox addon) however if l have to use a third party program like thunderbird to bypass the VPN somehow, just as long as l can retain access without having to constantly change passwords due to google thinking my access was suspicious activity then ld appreciate any advice ppl can give.

I guess it's because VPN operators are able to read your data if they want to including your passwords.

I do think your problem is due to the IP Address.

I am using the same as yours, purevpn and gmail, and hotmail, and Google Chrome.

Firstly of all, using PureVPN on support, they are all over many countries, so it could maybe you encountered an non-English staff.
But i do not have this problem as the staff and me have no issue on languages.

Before going further &or later, do read this thread i had written about

I will start about PureVPN first, then about gmail accounts issues.


How PureVPN works, as i always contact them in the beginning.
I am a bit long winded type, but i prefer to write fully.

Before login to PureVPN, do ensure that your browser is not running.

Log-in to PureVPN, and select the designated country you want.

Only after successfully login to that country with the IP Address stated.
Do note that ensure the purevpn software is NOT connected to your own country. (i had come across.)

Once successfully log-in to another IP Address, then you can open the browser.

I had some discussion with several support staff in the beginning, keep asking all sort and this issue.

Let say you have done with 2 other users, and follow by the next users.

Try not to close or disconnect the purevpn, as this is only way to continue to use the same IP Address.



Next: Gmail issue.

They did prompt me about the location and IP Address. (more detailed below)

Some how, i think i accept as good and not change the password.
But as a matter of fact, i forgot which options &or method i use.
As i just test, by open purevpn software, connect, new IP Address, finally open Google Chrome.
When to gmail account, there is no anymore prompt.

It could be that gmail want to check if it is you or not.
Try to indicate as you are the one (something like that) (sorry, my english).

For gmail and other email accounts, there is no need to use purevpn, as it not only make no difference, it will make it difficult for you to login.

I suggest you to using normal way, that is without purevpn, for login to Official Websites

Official Websites --> Emails, Banks, ISP, etc. Most official websites will bar unknown IP Address.
This will defeat their purpose to provide you a secure login.

To know if you are on secured websites, do note the IP Address bar "lock icon" https://
The 'lock' icon and s after http means "secured"



Info.

Most ISP do not give their customer a permanent (static) IP Address.

Once you login to your ISP, an IP will be issue to you.
To check your IP Address, it will be stated in Speedtest.
But if you switch off the connection between you and the ISP, and the next time you log in, you will be assign to a different IP Address.
Hence, i never switch off the ONT (for fibre modem) and the router at all, running 24/7
That is if the IP Address give me a reliable and stable connection.


Using PureVPN.

Never use for Official websites where your id is required.
Most VPN will mask their location, and even Netflix and other known & official websites will refuse to login.

But VPN is not purely masked as like you are invisible.
Every ISP, include VPN, have to logging details which may have to hold for a couple years, depend.
Hence, you are not protected and invisible.

There was a case where one Movie Producer Company sue hundred of people here, for illegal downloading of the movies.
It is under the Courts order, ISP & VPN alike, have to produce the logged on who are the users.
Each time you enter an websites names, ISP will have to logged you.
At the same time, Movie Producer Company, ex, will able to trace your IP Address.

So, what is really why and how use VPN for surfing.
Sometimes, ISP do block certain websites from you.
But using VPN you could able to visit such websites.

Cookies.
This is how websites cookies track you, as there will be a cookie in your computer.
Someone here did question about cookies, recently.
One user mentioned that this is a must to let the surfer to acknowledge you are being tracked, by law.
The main problem on this cookies, it will track your surfing habit, etc; and the cookies details will be sent back to the same websites that download the cookie in your computer.
This is where why some AntiVirus indicated certain cookies are malware.
This is true, as hacker could gain access to your computer by sending you the cookies, and retrieve the cookies with all info back to the hacker.
But nowadays, AV are able to add certain websites as problematic, so delete the cookies in your computer.


In Conclusion.

Try not to use purevpn to log in to Official Websites, as it may cause issue, such as not able to login.

Because you often log in your Gmail over different IP address, that Google think it is suspicious activity. If you want to use VPN and Gmail at the same time, please get connected to the same VPN server every time. and check whether the VPN server is static IP not dynamic IP.

I am living in China. and I need to use FlyVPN to access Gmail every time. If I login with Gmail over different IP, I will get alert from Google too. So I often keep connected to one server with static IP. No alert now.

2 factor authentication does seem to help get around the issue.. every time it marks me login as suspicious l verify with authenticator.. its slightly annoying but seems to work well.

PureVPN offers dedicated IP's of USA, UK, Canada, Germany, Malta, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.

Good, as Singapore is included.

So, if you want to you can open a Chat and take the offer.


There, answer the question on static IP.

For now, i may not take it, not because of cost, more on privacy.

With a static IP it is good for direct link to as games and other websites.

Many customers who wrote to my ISP are having problems in connection to sites such as China.
