I have a problem with my computer. I just restarted it, and it ended up booting with purple/blue lines all over the screen.
So the first thing i did was go into device manager. All it told me was a caution symbol next to my NVIDIA geForce 8500 GT. so i downloaded and reinstalled the drivers for it. No effect.
Then i booted into safe mode to find if it was a motherboard issue. The lines remained.
At this point im asking all of you at this fourm, what is the issue and how do i fix it? Thank you.
If its an add in card re-seat it in its slot and make sure any power cables are securely connected. You may want to unplug the power supply from the wall plug so your PC doesn't accidentally start up while you are working on it. Also make sure the heat sink is free of dust and the fan (if it has one) is working correctly. You may want to check your case fans for dust too while you have the case open.

If possible try your monitor on a different pc or a laptop to rule out the monitor. After that we can start looking at you card itself. Are you OC it or you motherboard?

If you fill in your system specs that might help with some better troubleshooting or put an attachment of the screen showing the lines, if its a Laptop they are noted for the video chip overheating. Try another video card if you could barrow one from a friend. Good Luck I had one that had ======= signs all over the screen finally RMA'ed the video card problem gone.
