Put SSD C Drive In AHCI Mode Before Installing Windows 7 Home Premium

Can someone please tell how to put SSD C Drive in AHCI Mode before installing Windows 7.


Also want to format external SSD in AHCI Mode.




BIOS does not show option to put drive in AHCI Mode.

AHCI Mode is a BIOS setting. Normally you have a drive mode option that could be RAID and AHCI.

If your computer doesn't have RAID it is already set as AHCI.

If you install win 7 with RAID set it will install with RAID drivers and if you install win 7 with AHCI set it will install with AHCI drivers. In this case you can't change BIOS from RAID to AHCI (and vice versa) without changing the windows drivers.

To do a Clean Install on the SSD, detach all other drives (SATA or power cable) from the MB leaving on only the SSD.
Boot from the Win 7 installation drive (DVD or USB drive), go to install, Advanced and delete all partitions on the SSD till you have one and only one unallocated space and then proceed.

The Jasmine motherboard uses an AMI BIOS version 8 that is compatible with UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface).

If you want to install Win 7 as Legacy-MBR you MUST boot the installation drive as Legacy.
If you want to install Win 7 as UEFI-GPT you MUST boot the installation drive as UEFI.
