Was watching my computer and the gadget show high CPU usage. Click on it expecting many one of my programs was running in the background but noticed the following screen shot. Does anyone know what DSD_5996 is?

Don't know if this will help or not, but a quick Google search showed it might have something to do with NHRA photos.

Okay I'll bite, but if you can see "it's running" and photo's don't run or am I wrong? I did the search as well and didn't come up with anything.

Just a wild guess on my part, but when I went to the competitionplus<dot>com website, all the DSD_xxxx photos were showing in an active (scrolling) thumbnail list. Since the thumbnails were active I think it might show up as an active application.

What can I say, I have no clue, your guessing what it is, and therefore, I guess your right, unless someone else has had this before.

If you don't have a better knowledge of what's running at the moment then I suggest you turn off everything starting with Windows except your AV, sync, any gadgets or IM you absolutely need to start with the OS. Most all others are unnecessary and often set to start with Win7 so they can spy on you while pretending to be a Program updater. You will most likely notice better performance. Follow step 7 in Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.

Also if you're running the Dell factory install that is the worst possible install of Win7 one can have. Most tech enthusiasts prefer to get perfect native performance following these steps to do a Clean Reinstall Windows 7

Did anything happen if you clicked: Switch To ?

I'd look over the Processes Tab instead and see what's going there, and post screen shot if still concerned.

There are plenty of tools in the arsenal for getting to the bottom of oddities.

You must have a Dell. It is a Dell process. it might be Dell System Detect. You may also have an icon for it in your taskbar which you can mouse over and exit it. Click on the arrow which shows hidden icons if necessary.
