Hey all:

hey guys, trying to get this 9650 up to at least 3.8 Just got home and I've booted into win7 with the Q9650 @ 3.8, 1700 FSB, memory 800, and 5-5-5-15 timings. voltages settings are .2375 cpuv, mem 2.20, fsb 1.45, nb 1.44, sb 1.56. keeps blue screening during prime95.

Here's my system:

XFX 750i SLI nForce
Windows 7 64bit
Q9650
Thermaltake Black Widow V1
8 GB Supertalent DDR2 PC-6400 (800)
2 EVGA GTX 260 SLI
1 OCZ Vertex 120GB SATA II SSD
CoolMax RM-1000B PSU
24" Asus VE245H Widescreen LCD

I believe the major issue is I've got my memory settings all messed up. First i left the memory on Auto, then I tried 5-5-5-15, then 6-6-6-18, no luck. I was told on a different forum that my FSB and Memory are probably linked. I'm not sure how to "unlink" them but any help with this is appreciated. Any suggestions?

Its not stable.

With DDR2 800 memory, you will be limited. Youll need to set the base RAM speed at 667 or as low as you can get it, the start OCing.
Since the RAM speed will increase as the FSB goes up, youll want to start it off below rated speeds, and by the time you OC, itll be back where it should be.
I would try to keep the RAM at or below its rated 800Mhz speed, at least untill you know where the CPU will be stable.

With that being the case, 400FSB may be all your able to get with 1:1 ratio and 800 RAM

Also be aware, if you have all 4 DIMM slots full, it will make it much more difficult to achieve higher OCs, as it creates alot more stress than just 2 DIMMS will.

All CPUs are different of course, but my Q9650 does just fine up to 3.6Ghz w/8GB (4DIMMS full)
At around 3.7 it really starts wanting alot more Vcore.
You may need to raise your Vcore from 1.23 to around 1.28-1.30

I believe the major issue is I've got my memory settings all messed up. First i left the memory on Auto

Turn it down first
turn DRAM Frequency at lowest value
then increase FSB Speed until can't boot :geek:
Changing timing memory are not to important for daily use
It only will increase score for benchmarking
but it is fun to play on it :D
Focus in one section first
If CPU done,.. then you goes to RAM
Then your VGA (if necessary)
If you not focus, it will be hard to play :p

Post screenshot from CPU-Z
Tab CPU, Memory, SPD :D

Same processor as me,.. but not motherboard and memory :o

Do you mean your FSB is 411...which quad pumped for Intel would result in 1644?

Semantics. That's just like saying your CPU is only running at ~376MHz cause it's multiplied by 8.5.
