Query fan controllers

I fitted a Lamptron FC5 V2 controller a couple of days ago partly because enhanced to the look of the machine and I have extra fans fitted that are not needed to run at full tilt just yet.

Now for the dumb query just what motherboard items does one attach the sensors to and how. My obvious instincts are the north and south bridges and the "silent" graphics card which leaves a fourth one for whatever ? hard drive.

Can someone give me a shove in the right direction especially how do you fix the sensor to the device who's temp you are monitoring, and is there another component I should be watching.

The machine is an i5 2500 with a Gigabyte H67GA-UD3H-B3 board and am I right in thinking that the CPU looks after it's own fan speed.

At the moment it has gone back for warrantyas there was no power at the fan out pins / connectors.

I personally like to keep a watch on my MCH. Since tweaking memory affects the temp of the memory sticks watching the memory controller hub was useful for me. Perhaps it;s personal choice.

Thanks Tanyam I was thinking putting one there as I have 12Gb Rip Jaws (x4 sticks) on board.

The only thing mate is do you stick them to the surface with tape because the little ends look awfully fragile just to be shoving them into gaps etc. Sory but like I said have never used or seen them used before.

The thing that runs hottest at the moment is the south bridge and it doesn't have much in the way of slots to insert the sensors in.
Just a quick pic to se the bits.

Actually, I might have been lucky. The sensors I have fitted perfectly into the gap between two sticks. I have the Corsair Dominator XMP memory which has the big fins.

My son wasn't so lucky, so he used a small dab of blu-tack (not on the tip of the sensor, on the wire so the sensor was unencumbered). Dont know if that's recommended, but it worked. He made sure he stuck it to the plastic moulding for the memory mount just to make sure any chemicals in the blu-tack didn't negatively effect the motherboard.

Must have crossed posts - you can see what I mean re the small slots in the south bridge and the north bridgefor that matter.

Hmmmm Blu tak might give that a go or a bit of that "invisiblle" Sellotape you can get now (looks a bit opaque). Pity there weren't tiny clips around that would do the job eh?
