I have a new PC with Windows 7, I have Netframework 4 installed. When I receive updates from microsoft I receive updates for Netframework 4 and also for Netframework 3.5. Why is this, can anyone enlighten me and do I really need to download the updates for Netframework 3.5? Thank you for your time, all explanations and answers are always appreciated as I am new to this. Thank you
Many thanks for your prompt reponse but looking at my programme list I can only see Net Framework 4 and yet I constantly receive updates from microsoft for Net Framework 3.5 and this what is puzzling me? I have been told it could be becuase I have programmes that rely on Net Framework 3.5? Does this make sense or is it Microsoft sending updates I really do not need.
You're welcome - I just go with the flow on .NET now after wrestling with total confusion while v1, 1.1, 2 etc came out
I don't install it unless I have a program that needs it (and I just ended up installing the v4.5 RC here for Visual Studio), but then I do keep it updated thereafter. Windows itself comes with some versions installed so you don't get too much choice in those.
