With system image in Windows 7 Enterprise does it create a exact duplicate of your hard disk? Right now I have 7 Enterprise and Office 2007 Activated. So lets say one day my computer crashes or the HDD needs to be replaced all I need to do is restore that image? and it will be back to how it is now with 7 and office 07 Activated? I will not need any other items like the instalation disks?

Thanks very much,

Yes, that is exactly what a system image will do.

I think the default using the Windows tool is to replicate certain partitions--C and the system reserved partition.

If you have a D partition, it would NOT be included by default--but could be if you deliberately add it.

You should consider the possibility that imaging will fail, as it sometimes does.

Not really your question, but in lieu of System image, you would be better off using Paragon. Store the image on an external hard drive and update about once a month.

Most agree it works better than system image.

If you rename the folders you may break some file associations and possibly applications as well...why the rename ?

Whoops i read too fast...you can safely rename the Image name...

I rename my images when I place them in storage folders on my external.

However when I want to reimage HD, the image must be renamed back to WindowsImageBackup and placed in the external drive root in order to be detected.

The same is true if you place them on a primary formatted partition for easy detection.
