Solved Question about elevated heat

This is going to sound like a question from the Twilight Zone.

My comp was starting to run hot ( 45 - 55C under normal conditions.).

I was about to open case and do a thorough cleaning, but first cleaned the keyboard thoroughly.

I have been using the comp for over an hour and it now doesn't go over 35C!

I know it has to be a coincidence, Right??!!

That's one of the weirder problems that I've seen, but yeah, I would chalk that up to coincidence.

I knew it was weird.

And yet it is still under 39C - last two hours.

What do you think could have caused the spike and now back to normal?

Still a little warm. Are all your fans working properly?

This is how I adjusted them using AI Utility.

BTW - my side fan is presently not plugged in.

When I opened the case to check for dust, it became unplugged.


After I clean the case, I'll reattach it.

You think 39C is warm?

At the present time I have my fans hook up to 12v fan hubs. They run max. all the time. Some fans you can't really do this without a lot of noise.

If I was going to control fan speed I would use a physical fan controller.
Their are many one can choose from if Googled.

I'm not saying my methods are the only ones. They are the methods that suite me and my systems.

I also don't consider 400 to 600 rpm fast enough for 120 and 140 mm fans.
Example would be you top and bottom fans.

Your cpu at 39C is very good.

Could you correct your system specs.

Every time I Googled Thermaltake RX -1 I would get a power supply.


When I Googled Case Thermaltake RX -1, I found your case.

I wanted to see what fans came with the case and there location.

Oh -

The top one is 120
The front is 140
The bottom is 120
I also have a 120 for the side that is currently unplugged.

Is that what you asked, because the pic shows it.

I guess I'm just used to my PC running at 26C, which is five degrees above ambient for me. I'm also watercooled.

Lol, I forgot where you are. In California, of course your CPU will be warmer because of the ambient temperature. Sorry, stupidity on my part.

Sorry to stick my nose in here, but what CPU cooler are you using? If you are using the Intel stock cooler, that is about the best you are going to get. I live in Florida and have a 2600K in my HTPC with a Thermaltake Frio with one Noctua fan on it and it rarely goes over 32-33°C at idle or just normal use.

Mellon Head, while you are in the process of reacquiring Justin Bieber, I just wanted to let you know that we do have air conditioners in Florida, so I am sure they are available in California. :roflmao:

Yes, I am using the stock cooler.

I don't think my temps are out of line, though.

No problem. Those temps are about expected for the stock Intel cooler.
