Solved Question about Memory speed in my pc

ok i have 3 sticks of ddr3 memory each stick is 2gb... my question is two of them are faster then the 3rd one.. would removing the slower stick and just using the two faster sticks give me better system performance then have 6gb with a slower reading... hope i make sense.....

this is what i have for ram... in my system right now
slot 1: PC3-12800 (800 MHZ)
slot 2: PC3-12800 (800 MHZ)
Slot 4: PC3-8500f (533 MHZ)

For sure since the two faster sticks will have to downclock to match the slower stick. Better yet, buy another 2 GB of the faster stick for optimum performance.

ok thank you i removed the slow 2gb stick.. and wow i am running faster with 4 gigs then i was with 6gigs... i even ran a winsat mem and those numbers doubled..... thank you for such a quick response to my question..

Best thing for memory, in a dual channel configuration, is Symmetry. 2 sticks of the same capacity, speed, timing....each in its own channel. For example, in my old system, I had 3GB of RAM. 2-1GB sticks, and 2-512MB sticks(factory configuration). My WEI score for RAM was a 5.9. I swapped the 2-512MB sticks out for 2-1gb sticks(same frequency) and my WEI score was a 7.1! Me and my buddy were in disbelief at the jump in score. It was only a 1gb increase in capacity, 3GB-4GB, so we figured that must be wrong. Re-ran the assessment several times and it remained a 7.1. We concluded that symmetry is more important than capacity when it comes to RAM.
