Question about solid state drive!!!?

i want to buy a sdd for my pc. i have 2 questions.

1. since the drive is 2.5 inches and my case has fittings for 3.5inch drives how can i properly mount this in the case?

2. the connection is sata II but how is the power connected? is it use a standard sata power connector or 4 pin molex?

SATA power connector. Many SSDs come with mounting kits. Otherwise your can get one here Newegg.com - BYTECC Bracket-35225 2.5 Inch HDD/SSD Mounting Kit For 3.5" Drive Bay or Enclosure

I'd recommend purchasing only drives with a Indilinx Barefoot (good) or SandForce controller (better). OCZ has been a best buy for me -- both my Vertex and Vertex II have been wonderful compared to my other SSDs.

Agree with baarod.

Check the 3.5" adapter, most have them but not all.

The OCZ are arguable the best right now. The Vertex II and Agility II being the newest with the best specs.

They all seem to boast the sequential read/write rates, much more important are the random read/write rates as these are what an OS uses most of the time.
I/O rates are key for performance. This is where the Intel SSDs get there high scores and is what made them a better choice, a few months ago. OCZ Vertex and Agility II's are getting better performance ratings than the Intels now.

Good place to compare SSDs, side by side rating is AnandTech SSD Bench.
Most of the top rated SSDs are listed there.
Personally, I wouldn't consider anything not on that list. These brand/models with different capacities are comparable in performance.

There are other SSDs that have reasonable specs and even good reviews but, the performance just isn't there.
The controller is a major factor.

Whatever you decide, be sure to get one that has the ability to use Trim.

Since the SSD's are extremely light and don't have any moving parts ...you might do what I did and Velcro it into your case. I seriously tucked it away in a spot otherwise unused and this helped keep my wiring nice and neat in my case.

I went a little different route to make my drive portable as I generally help friends with their PC problems and having portable SATA and PATA drive is a nice thing to have when you are troubleshooting. I purchased a 3 1/2" drive enclosure that ejects the 2 1/2" SATA SSD, fits perfectly in the 3 1/2" bay and gives me some added flexibility.
