It is a small partition used by the system for the boot loader and other files. You need it dont delete.

Not half as annoying as having to re-install windows. I dont know of any way to hide it without affection its operation.

If you don't like the System Reserved Partition like I do not then there is a way to get rid of it if you are prepared to again clean install Windows 7. I have a small hard disk with a 500 gig external and its screenshot is placed below.

As you can see there is no System Reserved Partition. If you would like to go through a clean install then I can write out the procedure for you.

System Reserved should never have a drive letter. Remove it in Disk mgmt if it does. If it has a drive letter programs can write to it and take that empty space which is used by the SysVolInfo file when you make a Win7 backup image.

There is no reason to bother with removing it, but the procedure if you do is to mark Win7 partition Active and then run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times.

Once Win7 starts on it's own and holds the System Active flags in it's own partition, you can delete the SysReserved partition and recover its space using free Partition Wizard bootable CD Resize function. Resizing on the boot sector may require running the Repairs again.

It is only displayed in Disk Management and or some other disk partitioning and formatting programs. If you are seeing it in Windows Explorer then you have made system changes to somehow show all drives. This could have unintended consequences. Why wouldn't you want to see all partitions when using a disk management program.
In any event you can remove it and then reinstall the OS because you removed it.

No. System Reserved partition is not meant to have a letter. It should be removed.

Only if you attempt to remove the letter from the OS partition will it cause problems.
