Hello Rynio,

It depends on what features the UPS offers, but the APC Back-UPS XS 1500 one I have has a option to shutdown your computer after a certain time when running on battery power. The included data cable and software has to be installed first before that feature will work though.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I am using RS 900, it works perfectly, just as advertised, but (you knew that was coming), about 10% of the time when computer comes out of sleep mode, there is a warning that there was a communication default. However, whenever I test with that warning it works perfectly. I think what happens when in sleep mode the computer loses contact with the PS. The worst scenario, for that situation is, in case of a power failure, the computer would stay in sleep mode until the battery drained. No problem, nothing is really being used while in sleep mode. The computer is actually suppose to be shut off after 5 minutes when used on battery.
