Hi, i recent did a clean install of windows 7 OEM 64 bit. I installed all my drivers from the hp website. But now I have something on device manager that says SM bus controller? with a yellow exclamation mark on it. I do not see any thing on the hp driver page for it.

Heres a picture of it

The SMBus controller is the System Management Bus controller and is part of the Intel chipset on the motherboard. You may notice that you have a yellow exclamation point on your SMBus Controller in Device Manager. That's most likely because you need to install the Intel INF update utility to update the motherboard Intel chipset drivers.

Look for yellow exclamation mark under "System Devices" in front of your device.
Right-click, choose "Update Driver" and "Install from a specific location."
browse to the ATI (or AMD) folder the chipset drivers were expanded to and navigate to the SMBus folder. Click Ok. Driver gets installed. You need to restart Windows.

If you imported your drivers from HP website as you said, you must have missed your Chipset. Download and unzip it now, browse from Device Manager>Device>Update Driver>Browse to the storage elements folder until it picks it up. Otherwise install the chipset as Administrator.

Check out the steps in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 for modern methods to get a perfect Win7 reinstall. Unlike XP Win7 is driver-complete in the installer and quickly updated via optional Windows Updates when you enable Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware . Only import drivers which after all Updates are missing in Device Manager.

If it isn't something readily available from an OEM (if you aren't using an OEM computer) then go to the following site and follow their instructions for determining what driver you need:
