Question about windows 7's wireless icon

Hello got a simple question, one I am hoping has a simple solution. I recently reformatted my computer to finally upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 professional. Everything is working except there is a small issue with my wireless icon. Unlike in windows Vista, XP, 2000, in windows 7 I cant seem to show the current connectivity status on the wireless icon on my taskbar. I am connected to the internet fine, just the icon doesnt show the connectivity strength. Here is a picture

Any ideas?:sarc: or is this normal for windows 7?

The icon in windows 7 is a monochrome one so shows the signal strength as either gray or white bars - from the snip you show I would say you have a full strength signal, as all bars are white

thanks for the quick response. I was under the impression it was showing it as "Off" Simple mistake on my part I guess. Thanks again

I had wondered why it didn't seem to be monitoring the signal strength, but it looks a little dull imo.

If you click on the icon to display the wireless connections menu you will then see the signal strength in all it's full green colored glory - why only show the icon in shades of Grey escapes me
