Is there anyone out there who has a computer that about 10% of its true capabilities are being used? I'm not saying I have a crazy high end machine or anything, but I do find myself running Prime95 while I go to lunch just so my computer can see some work...I use to game but now my computer is at my office and the closest this thing sees to a game is Zuma, and that is a rare occasion. Does anyone else run Prime95 just because they know they have not pushed their machine in awhile?

I did when I first got my new rig and found out that I had problems with my cooling so I RMA'd the whole rig and they then sent it back with a new processor and cooling. Since then it is truly stable and of course when I got it back the first thing I did was run Prime 95 on it for a while.

I have never really tested my Rig to it's max but I do know it is awesome and fast.

The thing is whether I am multi-tasking or doing stuff in Photoshop it just keeps running at full speed.

I did test it yesterday though running 6 instances of Convert X to DVD, burnt a DVD, browsing with Chrome and running Winamp, plus Kaspersky 2011 firewall, Snagit, Malwarebytes, MSE and the processor was only at 74% kinda hard to max it out though.

Best money I ever spent.

Yea, in doing most tasks, it is hard to max all 4 cores of my processor. Maybe if I rendered a video or some massive 3d application would do it...but not typical "end user" tasks. Thanks for sharing Steve.

Nope.

Outside of gaming and encoding, for 'everyday tasks' it barely breaks a sweat and that's fine with me.

Just knowing that it can handle high loads when necessary is enough.

The same could apply to driving your car.

Most people use only a fraction of a cars overall potential power for a daily commute. But just because your aren't using it to it's full potential daily, doesn't mean you have to flog the hell out it every now and then because it's not always getting fully utilised.

The only time my processor maxes out is if I am encoding stuff.....and I have yet to see over 50% RAM usage. But I don't believe in needlessly cracking the whip on the computer......it won't get flabby and out of shape, like the typical human will. :)

I have a pretty super rig now but I'm getting just as flabby and out of shape using it as I was with the old rig which used to break a sweat multitasking.
How can this be?

Same here noobvious...."bigblu" as I call it is just purring right now the only time this machine starts to go anywhere on the CPU Richter scale is when I'm converting a blu-ray movie, everything else.... it just eats it up and spits it out like it's nothing.
Got to love my Quad Q9650:p
