Question on CD-key and country

As the Danish version is over a week in the future, I ordered a Windows 7 Ultimate Retail 64bit at amazon.co.uk earlier today. Now I am being told, that I will not bee able to activate my Ultimate as it is not brought in the same country as I live in.

All that EU-crap

Can anybody tell for sure, will a licence and key from Great Britain work in Denmark? I know most of you are from USA where you don't have these problems, but I hope somebody knows about this EU stuff.

Should I cancel the order, or am I good to go, when it arrives from GB?

There are usually export restrictions on software where you indeed need to buy it where you're locally located.

But if Amazon actually ships it to you, the key should work anywhere. People travel globally with laptops all the time, for example. Your main problem is going to be if Amazon decides there's some export restriction so they can't ship it to you, period.

Just stumbled on this interesting convo.

There shouldn't be any kind of restrictions in the movements of goods between UK and Denmark as they are both part of the EU...I mean sure there maybe different prices for different markets within the EU...but that shouldn't restrict the movement of those goods.and in this case activation.....

just my half cent worth..check back with who ever gave you this info. and probe them on it...doesn't seem right to me

#3 Exactly my point. They keep telling us, that we have an "inner marked" inside EU, with no customs between the countries, and that things may travel freely over borders. So far so good, but when it come to things that the governemt can make money off, then they said it is unlegal.
F.i. if I buy DVD+R in Germany, I can buy it with the much smaller tax, than if I got them in Denmark (less than half price), but if I want to buy a car in Germany, then it is illegal to take it to Denmark (same car cost less than half in Germany, than in Denmark), unless I pay a gigant tax og 180% of the cars prise!!.
When we talk about cigarettes and alcohol the rules are much more complicated.

So where in all this does a productkey from Microsoft comes in?
Amazon.co.uk has confirmed, that they will be shipping my order wtihin 3-5 days, so I guess it is allright, but I'm not sure it is 100% legal. The rules here are so confusing.
