Question regarding reformat (Solved) Thanks to all

Hi, this is my first post here so i hope i am in the right spot.
I am about to upgrade from xp pro 32bit to Win 7 home premium 64 bit (upgrade disk). I know how to do all this, so no advice needed there.

My question is i often do a reformat every 12 months (just to clean out the rubbish) and was wondering if i have to go back and install xp and then do the whole upgrade process again with the win 7 upgrade disk? I hope the question makes sence to someone....

Hi yes i have and i have just printed it off. So in 12 months time when i want to do a reformat will i be eligable to use the upgrade disk or do i have to install xp and then do the upgrade process to windows 7 again. I'm hoping i can just pop the upgrade disk in and use it like a full version... Sorry if my question is not clear ive just never had an upgrade disk before as all my windows os from 98 to xp pro are all full retail versions.

The Upgrade Disc will work fine, just don't enter the Key Code during the install. Wait until later to enter the Key Code. You have up to 30 days to enter it.

If you make an image of your system after you installed it, got all the updates, your usual programs installed and your settings made, then you can reinstall from the image - a lot easier and takes only about 20 minutes. Just keep the image in a safe place (external disk or even DVD). There is no true upgrade path from 32-bit to 64-bit, it has to be a clean install especially going from XP to Windows 7; have a look at this tutorial at the link below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.
