Once an update is downloaded, how can you really tell if the update was 32-bit or 64-bit?

Windows 7 Pro

I looked at a machine that a couple shows the ending as x64 and x86, but what about updates, securities and hotfixes? If yes you can, can someone tell me where in Windows 7?

Go to Windows updates/show history/right click on one of your choice/show details. From there you can also go to Windows site for more information. I have never had Windows update give me a update that wasn't for my system. Some parts of Windows 64 bit are 32 bit so you could get a little of both if needed.

Generally speaking ......
Windows Update Center is aware of your computer's bit type. It won't offer a 3-bit update if your computer is a 64-bit.
Just like it won't offer you updates for Microsoft Office programs if you don't have any of those.

t-4-2 - Thanks, I was asking because I do have 32-bit showing up as updates. LB is right, these are showing up as my C++2005 and 2008 installs. Some are x64 and some are x84.

I have another question. I have two computers that are exactly the same in parts, only the monitor and the keyboards are different. On computer A it has 101 updates varying from security, culmination and updates. Computer B I just had to wipe out the hard drive and reloaded the updates.

But I only have 77 various updates so I went to the Microsoft website and looked up the KB numbers from computer A and downloaded one that was not on computer B. When I tried to install it, it says that it is not applicable and reading the information it seems that the newer updates installed on computer B have the difference in updates rolled into them.

Question then is can I uninstall the older updates in computer A since computer A has the rolled up install as well? I try to just have both machines look identical as best as possible.

What do you think?

I would not touch it. You are trying to outsmart their update system which works perfectly - as far as I can tell. There are always differences in the amount of updates you get from system to system. I have 4 Win7 systems and they never match.

Windows Update Center will offer you the udates that you need in proper time.
Don't force the issue. It knows what your particular computer needs.

Like in my situation, I have yet to receive offer to install SP1. I am not going to the Download Center and look for it. I'll wait.
Maybe my computer is not ready for SP1.

Okay, just asking and wondering.
